The Face-Off between SEC rivals continues... On the diamond, the Mighty Gamecocks came through in record-breaking fashion by winning back to back World Series Championships.
Guess we'll remember the names Walker, Mooney, Morales, Bradley, Wingo, Roth, and Price for a long time to come. Two National Championships under their belt! WOW! We imagine the red carpet will follow them everywhere they go in Columbia, SC. 12 Gamecocks (on the current roster) were drafted into the MLB. Even better, 10 of their high school recruits were drafted, too.
South Carolina breeds plenty of great baseball players, with the vast majority of the starting line-up learning their trade in the Palmetto state. Remember Bobby Richardson (Hall of Fame Yankee infielder)- well, he was from Sumter, SC.
With the changes in baseball (ie. reduced "sweet spot" on the baseball bats), it seems as though the Gamecocks have lived up to their name "Fighting". The first game was indicative of the team mentality. The second game showed team confidence. As good as Florida was, it was almost certain the Gamecocks would prevail.
